Two light setting

For this studio shoot on location, I used 2 studio lights.

One with a softbox as main light and one with barn door to wash out the green background and prevent spill back to the models.

The shoot was planned as a head and shoulder only as we wanted to focus on the makeup but …anyway.

ADCSee The DAM

I have been a PC user for quite a long time and have tried a massive amount of software out there to manage, archive, watermark, edit, manipulate my photos. I event make my slideshows using ACDSee.
Almost all the major photo editing software out there have their PC and Mac version, except for one: ACDSee.
I discovered ACDSee using the free version and could not use anything else. ACDSee is light weight and fast to load. It manages your digital photos very easily and the interface is friendly.

I since the upgraded to the Pro version and it was by far my best purchase on the Net.

Notice that while advanced photo editing software as LR, CS family or Aperture … are very powerful for photo editing, ADCSee is very capable of “standard” jobs.

ACDSe also come with a very powerful set of photo editing tools as well.

I can watermark, resize or rotate a whole folder with thousands of photos in one go. I was very surprised that ACDSee can open new digital raw format from new d-DLR while other advanced software need updates and upgrades.

The beauty is that it doesn’t require a lot of computer power so you can still do something else while ACDSee does its stuffs.

When I switched to Mac two years ago, the only thing that make me look back sometimes was the lack of ACDSee Mac version.

Guess what ? ADCSee just released the Mac version of their primary photo editing and digital asset management (DAM) software. It is now available for both platforms PC and Mac and I can’t be any happier.

Check out  a FREE Trial of ACDSee Photo Manager 2009 NOW, You’ll love it and will wonder how you could manage without it !

Photoshop 1

To start a new topic on PP (post processing) and especially editing with the famous Photoshop software from Adobe. This is a very easy way to create a soft focus effect from any image. Some people likes its dreamy effect.

Bear in mind that there are various number of ways to get this effect and the one that I am showing you is not the only way.

OK. Open a photo with photoshop (I’m talking CS3 Extended edition here, but any version should do this). Duplicate the background layer with the combination of Command and J key (Ctrl + J for PC users). Set the background copy layer active (just click on it in the layer pallet), go to FILTER, BLUR, GAUSIAN BLUR. Set a value somewhere above 11. Set the opacity down to 25% or so and voila.

Enjoy and stay tuned for the next photoshop tip.
