Canon 5D Mark III update

A quick post for some screen shot of Canon DPP on an Apple 30″ Cinema.

Bear in mind that these are RAW view of unedited files. You can see that I shot in Auto ISO mode and the first image is shot at ISO 2500, the second and third shots , at ISO 4000, one being fit size and one as 100% viewing.

Behind the Scenes with the Canon 5D Mark III

It’s been a busy time and after almost a week of getting the newly released Canon 5D Mark III, I finally found sometimes to sit down and process a few images taken with this already amazing camera and post some images here.

For this shoot, I mainly used my Hasselblad H4D40 but also had the Canon 5D Mark III along for some BTS and Studio shots.

I must confess that this camera has exceeded my expectations. It is very rare that I use Av mode along with the auto ISO feature but for this quick session, it was how the camera was set up: Av mode and auto ISO.

I also used the camera for a few studio shots when the Blad got frozen and jammed my 17″ MacBook Pro… I really enjoyed shooting tethered and now travel on location shoots with my iPad3 (thanks for the SD slot on the Canon 5D Mark III that allows using my EyeFi cards) or my MacBook Air with I can connect to my camera to shoot tethered.

Check these out. Since Camera Raw 7 can not read these files, I had to convert them from Canon’s DPP into JPEG and …. that’s it. Nothing more or less than a converted JPEG from the .CR2 files. Check them out for yourself.

Models are Brittney, Erica, Jariah and Melissa.

Hair and Make Up Artists are Amanda Rowen and Jessica Peris

BTS video is Michael Watson

We shot at INJEKTD Studios and the shoot was called RED for Raw, Edgy and a bit BOLD.

The idea behind the name is I wanted to do a shoot with minimum edits (only conversion from Hasselblad .fff raw files into JPEG and … that’s the RAW side of it). The edgy side being that the shoot was planned to be a beauty shoot with really /*&#@:!$$ make up and looks and we haven’t planned any outfit before hand… The BOLD side of the shoot is …. I can’t show it here … yet:o)

Make sure you scroll all the way down to check out an edited image taken with the Canon 5D Mark III and the Ef 85 f/1.02 at f/9.

2012 AIPP NSW Epson Professional Photography Awards

It’s been a while since my last post and life has been more than busy .. It is now time to catch up with what I have been doing and I am very excited to announce that I did well for the 2012 AIPP NSW Epson Professional Photography Awards.

I have put in prints for 3 categories, Illustrative, Wedding and Landscape and the results are more than unexpected.

I am Runner Up to the talented Dan O’Day in the 2012 AIPP ACT Illustrative Photographer of the Year, with some highlights in the Landscape and Wedding categories:

- My first Gold Award in Landscape and another image taken and edited with my … iPhone 4s.

- One Silver with Distinction award and another Silver Award in the wedding category

Wedding by Nomad Photography

Crays & Brad's Wedding in Thredbo | Silver Award with Distinction

Wedding by Nomad Photography

Kylie & Craig's Wedding in Canberra | Silver Award. I remember still retouching the image at the printer's because it apeared to lack of details in the shadow (which clearly showed on my screen when I edited it)

Silver Award iPhone Landscape Photography

iPhone 4s Landscape Photography | SIlver Award. I created ths image from my iPhone 4s, in Darwin, and edited it with Snapseed apps. It got a Silver Award after review for a potential Silver Award with Distinction.

Landscape Photo by Thierry Nguyen Cuu | Gold Award

This is my first ever Gold Award for a Landscape. It was during a photo trip with my Dad in Melbourne where we photographed the 12 Apostles.
