Fashion Studio

You may have noticed that I use to drag my models out to the cold for shooting, at least last winter, it’s not to be mean to models, and they know that I love ’em :), but it’s more about creativity …

I just try to be a bit different from the crowd a bit. I’d say that for outdoor shoot is more demanding, technically, for lighting and you really need a lot of juice, if you want more than what the available light on location gives you of course.

Well, now that winter is about to go away, I will definitely get back to the studio for more fun shoots.
In or out, I like to control my lighting and most of the time, for outdoor shoots, I tend to “erase” the ambient with my flashes.
Anyway, here are a few “indoor” shoot with some gorgeous and really talented models.

I shot these with some Carl Zeiss lenses fitted on my Canons with special adapters. I’d say that the contrast from these lenses are really incredible.

I had some of my L series lenses for the shoot but mainly used the Zeiss ones. They are so yummy> Also note that these guys are all manual, from focusing to aperture setting, but again, in studio situations, things tend to be a bit “easier”.

Amanda Choong, behind the scene at the market place

A few weeks ago I did a photoshoot with a young and yet talented inspiring model, Amanda Choong.
The shoot took place at a marketplace outside of Canberra. It was cold of course but the model performed as a professional model.
Check out the video (don’t forget to flick the HD button) below a few new photos.
A big thank to Jean Paul Groove, a close friend of mine, to have mixed the music and a special thank to Vincent, my brother, for the video.
Enjoy the show.

ADCSee The DAM

I have been a PC user for quite a long time and have tried a massive amount of software out there to manage, archive, watermark, edit, manipulate my photos. I event make my slideshows using ACDSee.
Almost all the major photo editing software out there have their PC and Mac version, except for one: ACDSee.
I discovered ACDSee using the free version and could not use anything else. ACDSee is light weight and fast to load. It manages your digital photos very easily and the interface is friendly.

I since the upgraded to the Pro version and it was by far my best purchase on the Net.

Notice that while advanced photo editing software as LR, CS family or Aperture … are very powerful for photo editing, ADCSee is very capable of “standard” jobs.

ACDSe also come with a very powerful set of photo editing tools as well.

I can watermark, resize or rotate a whole folder with thousands of photos in one go. I was very surprised that ACDSee can open new digital raw format from new d-DLR while other advanced software need updates and upgrades.

The beauty is that it doesn’t require a lot of computer power so you can still do something else while ACDSee does its stuffs.

When I switched to Mac two years ago, the only thing that make me look back sometimes was the lack of ACDSee Mac version.

Guess what ? ADCSee just released the Mac version of their primary photo editing and digital asset management (DAM) software. It is now available for both platforms PC and Mac and I can’t be any happier.

Check out  a FREE Trial of ACDSee Photo Manager 2009 NOW, You’ll love it and will wonder how you could manage without it !

Haley Roach – Chic & Glams Underground

I “discovered” Haley during the Miss Top Model Finals and I must say that I immediately noticed her in the crowd of models.

Haley has a special look and style that make her stand out from the competition. She is fun and easy going.

Once again I drag a model out to  the cold, I think this shoot was the coldest in the series, but Haley played the game and I’d say that it’s worth it as the images speak fro themselves.

Check this space back, more to come, especially the video of the shoot on Nomad TV.

Model: Haley Roach

MUA: Melissa Mullard

Tamsin. The Model Mayhem II

As mentioned in a previous post, Tamsin is the featured model for today’s article.

This session was from last Saturday, the day before Miss Top Model.

I have been so busy these last days that I couldn’t maintain my Model session and editing within 3 days as per my normal timing. I hope Tamsin would,’t mind too much.

We had quite a good time shooting together in the ANU areas, Tamsin, Vincent, my brother and I.  I will be posing the behind the scence video (video by Vincent) on the Nomad Photography TV soon.

Enjoy the photos and stay tuned for the next episode featuring Tamsin.
