TAG

The last project for my 2010 Season before heading off for some holidays with my Family.

For this project, I wanted something a bit different and with new faces, people that I didn’t have an opportunity to work with …. well most of them as for this shoot I called back Sam (from my M for Mola shoot) and Katie whom I shot for a bridal magazine back to the end of November.

So what is TAG about ?

TAG stands for …

T for Ted’s Canberra. Special thanks to Greg, store manager Canberra, for lending me a Nikon D3x for this shoot, as I wanted to compare the pixels to my Canon 5D Mark II.

A for Alliance Francaise. Special thanks to Philippe, director of the Alliance Francaise in Canberra (www.afcanberra.com.au), for letting my use the premises for this shoot.

G for …. Guess where I got my inspiration looking at their behind the scene shoot for their 2010 campaigns. Of course we don’t have the same budget with the same team but I think we managed to pull out something decend.

On the side, I am also a huge fan of TAG (Heuer) watches as I have a few of them myself, so this project is a little bit more personal than my previous ones.

While we are in the confidence, I approached GUESS in the Civic and asked for some outfit for this shoot…

The brand being global and their commercial shoots are planned way a head and it is not to be shot in Canberra … (not yet) so we ended up using some of the models gears.

Mega thanks to all the talents involved:

Bridal Magazine Shoot – BTS

Last Tuesday, I did the photo shoot for the bridal magazine Your Local Wedding Guide – Canberra Edition and it was a really fun day.

There were 18 wedding gowns from local and interstate designers, to shoot with different backgrounds, at the Hyatt in Canberra. We went from the hall way to the Presidential Suites, passing by the reception area to the Centenary Ballroom…

I would have loved to have an assistant for this shoot. It’s not that it was heavy lighting gears but I was using a massive beauty dish (Mola Setti, polished silver interior), on a boom with a dumb bell sand bag and the strobe was on a power pack: it started being a bit heavy running around on different shooting locations and I think we used all the levels and possible shooting locations.

As usual, we had two lovely models from Canberra: Katie and Nicole. I already did some shoots with Nicole but it was the first time that I shot Katie. She is so gorgeous that I already have plans to shoot her again in a near future.

We also had Zoe Barton to do the make up (www.zbmakeup.com.au) and the gorgeous Bree and Kayla from Pink Diamond Hair (www.pinkdiamondhair.com.au/) to do the …. hair.

I’ve already done some shoots with Zoe and Bree and I would definitely recommend them if you need a make up artist or hair stylist. both have participate in my Project M3 back a couple months ago.

I used a couple of Canon bodies and the Eye-Fi cards that allowed me to wirelessly tranfer images, on the fly, from the camera to the iPad. It is quickly becoming a permanent tool on my shooting sets.

As the photos will be on the next magazine, I can only post a few images from the BTS (behind the scene) of the shoot.

Thanks again to Prestige Publications, publisher of Your Local Wedding Guide, for having chosen NOMAD PHOTOGRAPHY to do their fashion shoot, it’s the third year in a row and it’s getting better and better

Just a teaser to keep you wait till the magazine will be released next year. Enjoy

Tamsin. The Model Mayhem

I had a shoot this afternoon with Tamsin and I must say that I was blown away by the model.

As I always do, I met Tamsin during the week for a meet and greet chat about the shoot and what I had in mind.

Tamsin appeared as a very reserved young lady, almost shy, but willing to do her best for the shoot.

Well, I knew a bit about Tamsin before meeting her and knew what she was capable of but I’d say that I was blown away at the photo shoot.

I am a full time flash shooter and use several flashguns intensively. With Tamsin, I didn’t need the light. She was the light.

The session started a bit in a mess with the flashguns not getting in sync with the radio poppers and also, once again, it was an outdoor shot and it was freezing.

Hummm… It took me a while to set the lights up, while Tamsin was standing in a light business suit (that was the theme of the shoot, by the way) and I had to warm up the session before the model got frozen.

Anyway, here are a few images of the afternoon shoot (more to come soon).

Winter in the park

Who’d have thought that I’d be outside such often during winter.

I spent so much time outside that I even forgot to blog and put up some new stuffs. Promised, I’ll get back behind the keyboard soon.

These are a fewphotos from a recent shot with Rachelle. My hat off for Rachelle, who braved the cold, and posed for me in really thin coats.

There was a double purpose for this shoot, Rachelle’s portfolio and, as a dual system shooter, I wanted to put my gears in real shooting situation tests:

I packed my 2 Canon 5D Mark II and my Nikon D700 along with their famous 70-200 f2.8 L/ED IS/VR USM/AF-S.

I will be posting a full report on this particular dual system shoot in a next post, so stick around.

These are a few images from the shoot. Scroll down for a behind-the-scene video.
