Catching Up

Way too long since I last post here and bot because I’ve been lazy but because I’ve been all over the place… OK and a tiny bit lazy too.

I’ve been between shoots, wedding, projects, edits and all sort of thing photography related (very exciting projects that I am very excited to share with you).

Aside from setting up a few community websites and instructional website, yes I am now providing 1-on-1 flash photography workshop for other photographers, and I can tell you that I didn’t see winter gone by..

You may also have noticed that during the winter, wedding off season, I got more and more into editorial and fashion photography, which I enjoy more and more shooting.

Here are some recent projects and some from older shoots that I recently edited.

I found that coming back to a shoot later in time allows me to have a different perspective on the shoot and edit them with another feel.

Let me know what you think in the comments.

Catch up soon for more.

Bridal Magazine Shoot – BTS

Last Tuesday, I did the photo shoot for the bridal magazine Your Local Wedding Guide – Canberra Edition and it was a really fun day.

There were 18 wedding gowns from local and interstate designers, to shoot with different backgrounds, at the Hyatt in Canberra. We went from the hall way to the Presidential Suites, passing by the reception area to the Centenary Ballroom…

I would have loved to have an assistant for this shoot. It’s not that it was heavy lighting gears but I was using a massive beauty dish (Mola Setti, polished silver interior), on a boom with a dumb bell sand bag and the strobe was on a power pack: it started being a bit heavy running around on different shooting locations and I think we used all the levels and possible shooting locations.

As usual, we had two lovely models from Canberra: Katie and Nicole. I already did some shoots with Nicole but it was the first time that I shot Katie. She is so gorgeous that I already have plans to shoot her again in a near future.

We also had Zoe Barton to do the make up (www.zbmakeup.com.au) and the gorgeous Bree and Kayla from Pink Diamond Hair (www.pinkdiamondhair.com.au/) to do the …. hair.

I’ve already done some shoots with Zoe and Bree and I would definitely recommend them if you need a make up artist or hair stylist. both have participate in my Project M3 back a couple months ago.

I used a couple of Canon bodies and the Eye-Fi cards that allowed me to wirelessly tranfer images, on the fly, from the camera to the iPad. It is quickly becoming a permanent tool on my shooting sets.

As the photos will be on the next magazine, I can only post a few images from the BTS (behind the scene) of the shoot.

Thanks again to Prestige Publications, publisher of Your Local Wedding Guide, for having chosen NOMAD PHOTOGRAPHY to do their fashion shoot, it’s the third year in a row and it’s getting better and better

Just a teaser to keep you wait till the magazine will be released next year. Enjoy

Canon 1D Mark IV. Featuring Tamsin Starick

Once again I had the joy to do a photo shoot with Tamsin and she is my first model, along with Haley, to feature the new Canon 1D Mark IV.

With this new camera, for outdoor shoot, my standard ISO starts at 800.

This is a first batch of images captured with the Canon 1D Mark IV @ ISO 800. Shot in RAW (.CR2) and converted into JPEG with CS4 on a Mac Pro.

All comment welcome.

BTS: Behind The Scene Photo Shoots

I always try to share my experience with other inspiring photographers and models, most of my modeling shoots are followed by a videographer.

On the Nomad Photography Youtube Chanel, I try to post as often as possible all my behind the scene shoots showing various details of a fashion shoot, lighting, composition, the gears that I use and most importantly the way I work around my models and locations.

With the best tools in the world, if you are not confident and don’t communicate with your models your photos will show it.

I really enjoy (photo) shooting models and also want the fun to be the same for all the crew and especially for my models.

Make sure to subscribe to my Youtube Chanel to get all the latest news and videos.
