Autumn leaves

It is a beautiful season now in Canberra where trees are losing their leaves and the landscape is showing off some amazing colours.
Between two assignment, I stopped by the parliamentary square for a break and couldn’t resist to snap a few images.
Beautiful colours and a very peaceful quietness in the middle of a week day afternoon.

Photos taken with a Nikon D700. Enjoy.

Street B&W

I used to travel a lot and always carry my camera with me all the time.

I find that with digital photography, more and more people can afford to buy a camera, which is really awesome but the downside of it is it is more and more difficult to actually take photos in the street.

We are definitely far from the time of Cartier Henry Bresson when pointing a lens to some one was not that “a big deal”.

Here is a capture of a Brisbane wedding gown shop. I was walking in the gallery when I spotted the dress. I stopped and waited for the moment.

B&W

Once in a while, I dedicate a full wedding in pure Black & White imagery.

This is not normally something requested by my Bride and Groom but just by personal choice and style.

Unlike post processing colour images,  Black & White processing requires more time and they also require particular attention to detail at the time of capture.

I do not simply convert images in to B&W for the sake of having a few black and whites photos for my couple.

Enjoy this serie. More to come …

Wedding Contest: The couple, the interview and the e-session

As mentioned in an earlier post, here are some edited photos of the e-session with Melissa & Ewen last Friday.

We spent some time together, when I put up this interview.

Funny enough, we met at the Light House Bar, in Belconnen, where Melissa and Ewen first dated…

Check out the interview and the photos.

How did you find out about the Nomad Photography competition?

We picked up a flyer about it at the Canberra Bridal Fair.

Why did you want Nomad Photography to take your wedding photos?

Nomad was one of the last photographers we saw at the bridal fair and there was just something different about them. Thierry took the time to explain some of his photos and why he took them. There seemed to be a real quality and passion behind his work which was so different to the other photographers we met that day.

How did you handle the month of voting?

We were both very nervous and on edge for a lot of the voting period. We were trying to drum up votes all over the place. We were getting emails from people I didn’t know wishing us luck in the competition as a friend of a friend had passed on the voting details to them. It was a really nice that so many people were willing to get behind us.

How are all your wedding plans coming along?

They are coming along pretty well. As we are having a fairly short engagement (10 months) we have been fairly busy with plans since we got engaged on Xmas day. We have a lot of the big things locked in already and now we can add photographer to that list!

When and where are you getting married?

We are getting married in Wollongong in October

What are you looking forward to most on your wedding day?

We are really looking forward to being pronounced husband and wife and celebrating with all our family and friends. And the photos of course!

Have you planned your honeymoon?

Not at the moment but we are thinking somewhere on the QLD sunshine coast.
