VND – The Winter Catalog
Viktoria Novak (from Viktoria Novak Design) is a well known name in the fashion industry in Canberra.
I had a chance to finally meet her for a quick chat about an upcoming collaboration between VND and Nomad Photography.
When walking through her wardrobe I had the idea to do a winter shoot… It’s a bit out of time but we didn’t really have a proper summer per say so the idea was kinda cool.
Within 2 hours we decided to set up a shoot within the next 2 days. Needless to say that to gather a team for such project, even it’s a small one, it needed a bit of preparation and also we needed to cast for models.
Lucky enough, within our networks (thanks to Facebook) we had more than needed models for the shoot.
Thanks again for our models (Daisy Milo, Samantha Lawson Fletcher, Sky Mackenzie) for having been up to the task of wearing winter jackets under the burning sun.
A good thank you to everyone involved and the credits go to:
Viktoria Novak: MUA, Stylist, Designer
Tristen Cassar: Hair Stylist and lighting assistant
Lyndell Roberts: Photography Assistant and BTS
We also had a surprise guest: Robert Coppa, who lent a helping hand with some BTS and lighting assistance.
Mega thanks to Viktoria’s mum and dad for providing us with warm welcome into their house and for the drinks and food and Viktoria’s sister for helping us with some posing in the shed and helping us scouting the areas.
I used a Mola Setti for this shoot.

Bridal Magazine Shoot – BTS
Last Tuesday, I did the photo shoot for the bridal magazine Your Local Wedding Guide – Canberra Edition and it was a really fun day.
There were 18 wedding gowns from local and interstate designers, to shoot with different backgrounds, at the Hyatt in Canberra. We went from the hall way to the Presidential Suites, passing by the reception area to the Centenary Ballroom…
I would have loved to have an assistant for this shoot. It’s not that it was heavy lighting gears but I was using a massive beauty dish (Mola Setti, polished silver interior), on a boom with a dumb bell sand bag and the strobe was on a power pack: it started being a bit heavy running around on different shooting locations and I think we used all the levels and possible shooting locations.
As usual, we had two lovely models from Canberra: Katie and Nicole. I already did some shoots with Nicole but it was the first time that I shot Katie. She is so gorgeous that I already have plans to shoot her again in a near future.
We also had Zoe Barton to do the make up (www.zbmakeup.com.au) and the gorgeous Bree and Kayla from Pink Diamond Hair (www.pinkdiamondhair.com.au/) to do the …. hair.
I’ve already done some shoots with Zoe and Bree and I would definitely recommend them if you need a make up artist or hair stylist. both have participate in my Project M3 back a couple months ago.
I used a couple of Canon bodies and the Eye-Fi cards that allowed me to wirelessly tranfer images, on the fly, from the camera to the iPad. It is quickly becoming a permanent tool on my shooting sets.
As the photos will be on the next magazine, I can only post a few images from the BTS (behind the scene) of the shoot.
Thanks again to Prestige Publications, publisher of Your Local Wedding Guide, for having chosen NOMAD PHOTOGRAPHY to do their fashion shoot, it’s the third year in a row and it’s getting better and better
Just a teaser to keep you wait till the magazine will be released next year. Enjoy

Add Colour
After an awesome wedding on Saturday, I though I’d have some quality time chilling but it was raining outside. Nothing worse when it rain than not getting out and shoot.
Well, we didn’t shoot in the rain, Thanks to Jeff and Ailsa for opening the workshop on a Sunday afternoon to let me shoot there.
I knew Jeff & Ailsa, from Add Colour (76 Wollongong street, Fyshwick) for quite a few years now as they are the only premium quality printers, for big formats, that I am happy with.
We even played with Jeff’s car and I’d say that everyone enjoyed the location.
A big thank you as well for Jolina O’Hair for doing the make up for her sister in law, Jessica and the gorgeous Olga Valerie Shuster.
Big thank you to Isma Majeed for her awesome make up on Natalie Edwards and also to Kate Wal, who helped me with some of my previous shoots but this time, I shot her ๐
I used only one light with a Mola beauty dish (Setti polished silver) for the whole session. More images coming soon.

Aure & Sam
Last week was one of the longest one that I’ve had in a while:
From the launch of the Beaujolais Nouveau 2011, at the Alliance Francaise, on the Thursday, to a wedding location scouting session, on the Friday, then a long but awesome wedding shoot on Saturday followed by a photo shoot for a security company, shooting security staff at night clubs.
On the Sunday we had a Canberra Strobist shoot through out the day and I conclude with a shoot out at Mt Stromlo with one of my new investments: a Mola Setti, satin silver.
Not only I am a bit behind in the edits for past and up coming weddings, I wanted to share some of the images during this Mola shoot.
I had two models, Samantha, the brunette, who already spent the whole day at the Canberra Strobist shoot , and Aurelie, a gorgeous french blonde.
This shoot was set up in less than 3 days (I met Aurelie on Thursday and Sam on Saturday) which shows that real talents are always ready to go ๐
A special thank to Kate Wal, who drove all the way to Mt Stromlo to do the make up for Aurelie. Also a mega mention to Isma Majeed, who did the make up for Sam which lasted the whole day (Kate did a bit of touch up for Sam’s lips though).
Mega thanks to all involved with a special mention to Linh, my beautiful wife for all her support in what I do.
Let’s make some rooms for some images.
