Samantha & Cameron’s Wedding

Samantha and Cameron’s wedding is a very particular one for me and for several reasons.

Jo and David, Sam’s parents, came to see me to book our services to capture Sam and Cameron’s wedding as a surprise wedding present.

After a short chat and a look at my work, Jo decided that I was the perfect photographer for her daughter’s special day and we went onto finalising the paperwork.

The connection between Jo, David and me was so easy and genuine that I felt part of the special event and was already planning the day (photography speaking) in my head.

Later, back at the office, when entering the details in my database, I realised that I haven’t checked my calendar and it happens that I had a wedding booked for the same day almost a year before..! It was for the wedding of Jessica and Mark from a previous post here.

I must say that I really don’t double book for my services because I want to be the one they choose to capture their precious moments but also I think that my brides and grooms, and also the parents of my brides and grooms, come to me because they love my photography, my style, the way I tell the story, and by double booking I can not offer them what they come to me for.

However, for Sam and Cameron’s wedding, I was feeling so connected to them and their family that I couldn’t just cancel on them. I had to do something to withhold my clients expectations and to provide the services that they came to me for.

I immediately rang Jo and explain the situation. I also said that although I could not be their photographer, I could organise someone to do the job as good as I would and even better.

I am still humbled by the trust that Jo had in me and what I did was to offer to have not one but two awesome photographers to cover Samantha and Cameron’s wedding.

And I did. I flew two photographers from Sacramento, California, (TomKat Photography and Acynosure) over for a week to to cover this wedding. I wanted to make sure that they have enough time to get the jet lag out of the way, enough time to get used to the weather (in the US is the end of Autumn and start of Winter) and also I wanted them to be here soon enough to introduce them to Jo and David and also Samantha and Cameron.

Sam and Cameron’s wedding was also special because it was like nothing I’ve captured before, in a very original way.

Samantha and Cameron’s wedding was to be in the Corroboree park with some 200 guests.

The guests were their family, with a special mention to the healthy and young 99 year young grandma, and some awesome performing artists. They had an open venue with barbecue and open activities including jumping castle, yes, jumping castle, face painting, live band, circus, juggling artists and even the flames twirlers…

The wedding was even live with FaceTime with a family member who couldn’t attend, on an iPad.

After finishing Jessica and Mark’s wedding coverage, I stopped by the park and the party was still going strong.

We farewell the newly wed couple and their parents and headed home with a lot of memories and a good feeling of having done a good job. Fulfilling our clients’ expectations and most importantly having help them preserve their precious moments.

Scroll all the way down to check out what happens when three photographers get together to shoot two weddings on a same day.

We would love your comments and suggestion on how we could further improve our services to our brides and grooms.

Thank you for visiting and now, place to the images.

Jessica & Mark’s Wedding

It was a warm day and the sun was high in the sky when I left home heading to Jessica parents’ house.

I have met Jessica several times before the wedding, as I would with all my couples prior to their weddings, and have quickly sympathised with her, her parents and Mark, her future husband.

During our meetings prior to the wedding day, I’ve learnt to know a bit more about Jessica and Mark which helped me in capturing their story the way they are, naturally.

Jessica even created a pin board, on pinterest to share with about the type of images she’d like to have for her own wedding. That was a cool idea and through that pin board we could share and exchange ideas of images during the bridal party session.

Jessica and Mark’s wedding was one of those glamorous weddings that I really enjoy capturing because I can add a touch of glamour and fashion into a the special day of my couples.

Let’s leave place for the 38 images.

PS:

If you are interested to know, I used a Canon 5D Mark III and a Canon 1Dx to shoot this wedding with a couple of L series lenses.

I’ll put up a post with the feed back about the gear I use for wedding in a couple of days when I get my head out of the editing :o)

Joanne & Kieran

The weather has been playing up a bit during this week that I was a bit nervous about Joanne & Kieran’s Wedding.

It happened that on Saturday, we had an awesome blue sky (cloudless though…) with a very nice temperature.

All started at Jo’s parents’ house with the girls getting ready. I’d say that I rarely saw such a nice garden. Jimmy & Dianne obviously put a lot of their time and effort to create such an amazing outdoor living space.

In the themed garden, there is a bar and pool area in one corner and in another, there is a wood fire heated room with a big screen TV for the footy 🙂

The Ceremony was at a 150 year old church, St Francis Xavier, in Hal and the reception was at the Golf Club, Gold Creek.

I shot this wedding with … 3 cameras, a Canon 1D Mark IV, a Nikon D3s and the … Hasselblad H4D40.

I think I’ll definitely need an assistant for my next wedding using this (H4D40) camera.

Some of the pictures of the Day (no Hassy images processed yet in this gallery).

Jacqueline & Luke

It was a beautiful day last Saturday at the Goolabri Golf Club.

It was the first time I shot a wedding there and yet I fell in love with the location. It’s just after the border from Canberra, when driving to Sydney, and it makes you feel like you’re thousand miles away from home.

The location offers a high standard golf course in the middle of the nature where kangaroos are part of the landscape.

Jacqueline & Luke are a young and happy couple and I am really happy to have been chosen to be part of their most important Day.

Congratulations again guys.

Location for a story board

As mentioned in some of my previous posts, I do a lot of scouting prior to a wedding shoot.
This way, I can show the couple that Wedding Photography, as captured by Nomad Photography, is not just clicking the trigger on the day of the Wedding.
I try to compose a story with the location that they chose. I plan for plan B for “what if” scenarios and also I make sure to show them the photos and have achat with teh couple so if they have some particular request, we can discuss during our final meeting before the wedding day.

Actually, I met the couple of my last wedding during a scout on a previous wedding. We had a chat, I gave them my card and 6 months later, I got a call from them to book their Wedding Photography. How good is that !

Here are some shots from my last location scouting. It’s in Lennox Garden, in Canberra (ACT).
I’ll post a few more later on.
